What is Scouting?
"Do Your Best" is the Cub Scout Motto.
What Is Cub Scouting?
We’re all about encouraging kids to make friends, be helpful to others, and do their very best no matter the outcome. With the help of powerful learning projects and exciting outdoor activities, we aim to teach children that doing their best can be a fun and rewarding experience—no matter the difficulty of the challenge.
What Do Cub Scouts Do?
Cub Scouts learn to navigate their world by completing Adventures.
Each adventure is geared towards learning a specific skillset and has a couple of required activities, and usually some optional activities as well.
Required activities are generally completed at Den Meetings with other scouts of the same age, but are sometimes completed within larger Pack activities, such as the annual Pinewood Derby race.
Some optional activities may be completed at home, and usually encompass sharing learned skills with the scout’s family.
Do Cub Scouts Earn Merit Badges?
Many people immediately think of merit badges when thinking of scouts, but Cub Scouts actually celebrate their achievements in several ways! Cub Scouts of any level can earn award patches, and their rank patches which are affixed to the uniform shirt. Lions through Bears celebrate Adventure completions with metal loops affixed to their belts, and Webalos scouts earn Adventure pins that are affixed to their uniform colors.
