What To Expect

The Cub Scouts is a program that develops ethical decision-making skills and civic involvement for boys and girls. We also have lots of fun in the process! Activities emphasize character development, citizenship training, and personal fitness. This is a great way for kids to meet new friends and participate in many different types of activities. They also benefit from a sense of belonging in a supportive, community-minded organization.

We hope you choose to join our Scouting community and share in some awesome adventures! This is a collection of frequently asked questions and links to additional resources to get you started in our program. If you have any questions, please contact the Pack 464 Cubmaster (Henriette Howett) at pack464wc@gmail.com.

Pack Meetings

A monthly Pack Meeting (all scouts) typically occurs in the evening on Wednesdays (or Fridays in Feb/March) each month.

Address: 3275 Peachwillow Ln, Walnut Creek, CA 94598

Time Commitment & Volunteering

Scouts and their parents are typically involved in two to three scheduled activities per month. A monthly Pack Meeting (see above) typically occurs once a month. Each Den (smaller group of 5-10 scouts in the same grade) will typically meet once per month to work on achievements and other activities. There may also be a field trip activity each month. Additionally we have several optional activities planned throughout the year including: camping, hiking, baseball games, basketball games, and overnight stays at interesting venues like the USS Hornet.

Each family is responsible for volunteering for three activities or positions each year. Pack Leadership committee and large event chairpersons get credit for two of those activities. Open activities and leadership positions will be posted at each pack meeting. In addition to your den’s meeting schedule, Pack 464 has tentatively scheduled the following events this year...

August

September

October

November

This is an online course and takes approximately 30 minutes to complete. Once you complete your training, print out the completion certificate and turn it in to your den leader or the Cubmaster.

Uniform

Each Scout must wear a "Class A" uniform to all Cub Scout events unless otherwise instructed by Scout leadership. Uniforms may be purchased at the Scout Store in Pleasant Hill. Approximate price is $70.00. Scouts will receive a "Class B" T-Shirt to wear on hikes and other events where the normal "Class A" uniform may not be appropriate. Additional "Class B" t-shirts may be ordered on the fall registration day. If there are T-shirts available or demand is strong enough for an additional order, you may be able to purchase them later in the year.
